Worcester Community Trust

Who are we?

Worcester Community Trust is a registered charity based in Worcester that manages 6 community hubs and 10 projects that offer support to vulnerable, or disadvantaged people. The charity formed in 2010 with a vision of releasing communities’ potential, and improving conditions of life.

Today the charity has built on these beliefs and grown with a focus on improving mental wellbeing, enhancing lives and bringing people together. In 2018, we reached over 4500 vulnerable people helping enhance lives and support them on their own journey through our range of services.

In 2019, our aim is to grow our mental health support for vulnerable people, promoting positive activities. This year we are doing this by providing a domestic abuse ‘Survivors Network’, youth mentoring and young ambassadors training, providing more community connector sessions, targeted support sessions and activities for
adults, as well as exciting community events.

What impact do we make? how do we do it?  Well, here are some of the ways:-

Worcester Community Trust works in some of the most deprived areas of Worcester; the work and projects we run are reflective of the need that has been identified. A recent community needs assessment carried out in Summer 2018 by the charity revealed that the biggest challenges facing people around us are mental health concerns, keeping a work
/ life balance and loneliness. The Trust has reflected on these needs, offering support, improving health and wellbeing and providing opportunities to those who are young and old in many different ways.

Building Block
Our Construction Skills Centre at Warndon provides skills in plastering, bricklaying, tiling,
plumbing and electrical skills. We run groups for people with SEND and for those who need
support with their mental health, with our other projects regularly using the centre. The Building Block is a LOGIC approved electrical training centre providing accredited training.

Snack and Chat
A warm and welcoming project offering a hot healthy two course meal, but also a warm
and friendly environment where individuals feel safe and at ease. Regular events and trips out for the over 50’s to various locations to increase confidence and mental wellbeing. People here make friendships and connections which continue outside of the project - tackling social isolation.

Community Connectors
Working closely with members of the public and partners to deliver drop in sessions to support the socially isolated and those with low level stress and anxiety.

Getting Involved
It isn’t all about giving money, we have had teams from Santander, BOSCH and many more come and lend a hand sprucing up a room or an area. Could you get your University, College, School, business, organisation or group to support us? From painting a room, taking on a challenge, a team day at the Building Block to coming to support a charity event, every piece of support goes a long way!

By volunteering your time to support one of our activities – or just a couple of hours, one day a week, can help us provide the support that’s needed. If you would like to get involved, please contact:volunteering@worcestercommunitytrust.org.uk
