Tesco Superstore, Warndon, Worcester

Our values

Ever since the business was founded by Jack Cohen in 1919, we have always been committed to providing the best shopping experience. Today we continue to focus on doing the right thing for our customers, colleagues and the communities we serve.

Our core purpose is to create value for customers and to earn their lifetime loyalty.

Our success depends on people: the people who shop with us and the people who work with us.

If our customers like what we offer, they are more likely to come back and shop with us again.

If the Tesco team find what we do rewarding, they are more likely to go that extra mile to help our customers.

This is expressed as our values:

No-one tries harder for customers:

  • Understand customers.
  • Be first to meet their needs.
  • Act responsibly for our communities.

Treat people as we like to be treated:

  • Work as a team.
  • Trust and respect each other.
  • Listen, support and say thank you.
  • Share knowledge and experience.
  • ...so we can enjoy our work.

We regularly ask our customers and our staff what we can do to make shopping with us and working with us that little bit better. This is our Every Little Helps strategy:

Community Champion

Hello I am Suzy Roberts and I am the Community Champion for the Warndon superstore. In my role as Community Champion I volunteer as a befriender every other week for 2 hours at Acorns Children's Hospice.  I play, read and do various activities with the children .  Words cannot express how rewarding this is and I look forward to my visits.

I also help with the Worcester Talking Newspaper a couple of times a month.  I help send audio books out to the local community but they haven't let me loose in the recording room as yet !

Key activities this year

Building on the insights and advice we have gained from experts, we have enhanced our understanding of the issues we are tackling and have started to take action to make a difference.

Here are details of recent events that we have been involved in out in our local community

In January we visited Headway, Worcestershire to help paint their day centre at Gregory Mill Street.

A team of 10 of us from this store, St Peters and Tesco Express, Foregate Street, Worcester painted a reception area, corridor and computer / music room.  It's a real pleasure to be involved in projects like this one

We have a collection point in our store for our local Worcester Foodbank. Our customers are very generous and we usually have approximately 8 full trays of food every week for them which they call to collect twice a week

charity logoNational Charity Partnership

Thanks to our customers and colleagues, our partnership with Diabetes UK has raised a fantastic £18.6 million.

This money will help to support people living with diabetes in many ways, for example by funding the extension of the Diabetes UK care line and a £4m investment in life changing research for a Type 1 vaccine.

At the end of 2014 we launched our new charity partnership with Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. This trio partnership is the first of its kind and will aim to raise £30 million to promote healthy living.
