Our new-style local Asda Supermarkets bring Asda prices closer to home.
There are now almost 180 Asda Supermarkets across the UK – many of them having opened in the past year as a result of the huge programme to convert former Netto stores into new-look local Asda Supermarkets.
It means you can now do your full weekly grocery shop without having to travel further afield.
If you’ve ever shopped in one of our competitors’ smaller-format stores you’ll have noticed they bump up their prices compared with their bigger out-of-town stores. We don’t think that’s fair – every one of the 10,000 products in our Supermarkets is priced the same as in our Superstores and Supercentres.
So isn't it nice that you can shop in an ASDA supermarket with the same Asda Price Guarantee that you can rely on in our bigger stores.
We’re really keen that every Asda store plays an active role in the life of their local community. From raising money for local charities to volunteering, our colleagues take their responsibilities towards their local communities very seriously.
We’re going to be stepping up our work in the community in 2012 with a big new initiative called Community Life.
Each store will have a Community Life Champion to work one day a week with community groups and local organisations.
They will arrange events in store and inspire colleagues and customers to get involved in local community work.
We’ve been taking the opportunity to recognise “local heroes” by inviting them to the opening ceremonies of our new-style Asda Supermarkets – smaller, local stores, many of them converted from former Netto stores.
Our stores also play host to local groups or national organisations collecting for good causes – and they can always rely on the generosity of Asda customers. Just one example from 2011 – over one weekend in August Help for Heroes raised an incredible £563,000 through donations and sales of merchandise at Asda stores.
We’ve made every one of our stores as accessible as possible by providing a wide range of disability and
family-friendly services. These include hearing loops and Minicom text service, baby changing facilities with free nappies and feeding rooms, disabled and parent and child parking bays and a selection of different trolleys.
