Herefordshire Council – adults and wellbeing

We all want to live healthy, happy and independent lives within our local communities for as long as possible.   Some of us need help to do this from our families, friends and local communities.  In addition the council provides advice and support on services like telecare, making healthy lifestyle choices, technology and adaptations for the home.

We have commissioned Services for Independent Living to provide WISH, a wellbeing information and signposting service for Herefordshire which includes a huge directory of activities and services available in the county for children and adults.  WISH will be at the 55+ & Retirement Roadshow on 10 September.

The council also provides adult social care for people who are eligible for council support. You can find out more about accessing social care by contacting our advice and referral team.  The team will help you by:

  • providing information and advice and connecting you to groups, organisations and activities within your local community

  • agreeing with you what we will do to help and support you, and what you can best do for yourself to maximise your independence
  • helping you find care and support, if this is what you need

  • checking if you are eligible for council help to meet some of the costs of your care.

To find out more about our approach and the services we can provide, come along and meet us at the 55+ and Retirement Roadshow at St Peter’s Church, Hereford on 10 September 2016.
